A kid this past week was talking about his friend that washed out of baseball
“He liked to compete, but I don’t think he really liked baseball”
You could write that on 99% of failed athletes gravestones
Of COURSE they like playing the game
That’s what they liked about the sport in the first place
But what so many lack is having the discipline to PREPARE
They fail to do what they need to OUTSIDE of games- an effective throwing program, consistent work on their swing, baseball specific development of strength, power and size -in order to succeed IN games
And their lack of application outside of the game eventually takes the game itself away from them-they “die for lack of discipline”
You have to put in consistent work outside of simply the team practice and games-that EVERYONE else is doing-or eventually, the sport will continue on, but you will be left behind
