A 10 yr longitudinal study (Reinold, Wilk 2009) looking at over 1400 MLB pitchers found that on average GH total ROM exceeded 190 +/- 5 degrees; Bigliani et al found that most MLB pitchers also had a positive sulcus sign in their shoulder, and 89% also had it in their NON dominant shoulder (so the traits weren’t “acquired”, they were hereditary).
These are the genetic factors that allow success to “just happen” for the talent.
For that reason guys with the REAL talent can do yoga, physical therapy “workouts”, nothing at all, and still throw gas.
Other pitchers have some arm talent-these are the guys that are often tricked by the easy success of high school into complacency, and get stuck and released in Milb.
Most though have LESS, and usually MUCH LESS arm talent, and that’s where they have to apply themselves through a Process of gaining size, strength, and athleticism in order to bridge the gap.
