“Sport specific training”
That sounds nice, and it works marketing wise with baseball Dads who don’t know any better
But the reality is that for an athlete all training is GPP (General Physical Preparation)
Training is a general stimulus that if done correctly, will produce large increases in force outputs; while equally importantly, raising an athletes durability
The problem is when the marketing becomes the training, and poor programs have guys trying to mimic swinging and mimic throwing with weight room exercises
You will never be able to create the bio mechanical nor physiological rate of force development and rate coding of the nervous system that occurs on the field, in the weight room.
